30 DAY HORROR MOVIE CHALLENGE: Days 1-5

Day 1 - your first horror movie

I think it may have been Dracula.  I remember being scared to death as Bela Lugosi came down those stairs.

Christopher Lee would go on to scare the life out of me (as far as vampires go), but Bela got the party started.
Horror movies used to give me nightmares and make me scared to get out of my bed at night.  I miss that.

Everyone should see this at least once.

Day 2 - the last horror movie you saw in the theater
Fright Night.  The remake. I loved the original and really liked the remake.  I’m even going to forget that I adore David Tennant with great passion.  The movie was really decent and it makes me sad that more people didn’t give it a chance.

It wasn't exactly like the original so that was a plus.  Colin Farrell had some intense moments but David Tennant was the one to watch.

Do watch the original but give this one a go at least once.

Day 3 - favorite classic horror movie
1968 is classic, right?  Night of the Living Dead is my favorite classic horror film and it is  also my favorite horror movie overall.

I remember the first time my mom saw this, she ranted and raved about it non stop.  She told everyone we knew.  My mom was my horror guru. She is the one who watched every horror hosted show that came on and every even remote horror or sci fi movie.  I knew I had to see this and finally got my chance.  I had never seen anything like it and it scared the life out of me. I spent that summer thinking that zombies were coming to get me.  I had a window fan and if you watched my wall through the night, the cars going by looked like people coming down the street.  You had to be there.  I was a kid and it freaked me out.

It is not extremely gory, but it has some scenes that you just don't expect and the are still effective to me now.

How can you not watch this?  You have to.  Yep.

Day 4 - a horror movie you thought you’d love and didn’t
Cemetary Man (Dellamorte Dellamore).  I just knew that between zombies and Rupert Everett, I would love it.  Didn’t.
I did not like his friend one bit. I found him gross and off putting and it killed it for me.  I don't even know what else to say about it.

Day 5 - Favorite horror remake

I had to really think on this.  I love The Thing.  I loved The Fly.  But in the end, I think I have to go with Dawn of the Dead.  I think it should win since I watch it over and over.  Whenever it comes on.  No matter what part it is on.  I will watch it.  I don't really like fast zombies, but I forgive them in this.

They are in a mall.  They are fighting zombies.  That is all that connects it to the original really.  It has some good gore.  It has a Ty Burrell in a totally different role than the one he does on Modern Family.  It is fun and I think you will watch it over and over.

Go watch it now.
